‘adventure with tough, enjoyable and exciting climb on top of Lobuche Peak’ 

Lobuche East Peak Climb is a pure exciting thrill of an adventure at a great lovely peak, close to Mt. Everest. Lobuche with two sister peaks the East and the West, Lobuche West at 6,145 m / 20, 156 feet, slightly higher than Lobuche East at 6,119 / 20, 070 feet. But Lobuche East peak is more popular among trekkers, climbers, and mountaineers than Lobuche West peak. Due to its accessibility to reach the base camp of Lobuche East Peak, taking only a day or more to climb. 
Lobuche East Peak climb draws more climbers as it is located close to the main trail to Everest base camp. Which makes it easier for preparation, practice exercise, acclimatization, and combining climb with a visit to Everest base camp.
In the early days, Lobuche East Peak remained isolated, until the past few decades getting more climbers and adventurers.
The grade of Lobuche East Peak climb is TD (Technical Difficulty) used by famous and popular French / Swiss; Alpine Climbing Classification Systems.
Lobuche East Peak climb includes adventure to Everest base camp and Kalapathar Hilltop for excellent views of Mt. Everest.
The journey to Lobuche East Peak starts from Lukla town as well for various adventures and trekking around the Khumbu region.
The trail leads to lovely pleasant walks following a gradual path with few short ups and down. Visiting and exploring nice traditional Sherpa villages enriched with age-old heritage cultures of Buddhism religion. Walk through Mani religious prayer walls to enter Sagarmatha National Park, listed in World Heritage Sites.
One of the highest national parks, treasures the world's tallest peaks likewise Everest, Lhotse, and Cho-Oyu with an array of peaks.
From the park cross a few bridges and then on the high trail to the famous Namche Bazaar. The heart of Khumbu Sherpa, as well for trekkers and mountaineers the major hub with all types of facilities. Enjoy an extra day in Namche Bazaar exploring its scenic viewpoints and visiting the park museum of great interest.
The adventure continues leaving Namche Bazaar on a scenic trail to beautiful Tengboche with its colorful majestic monastery. Located on a picturesque high plateau surrounded by a series of snow peaks with views of Everest and stunning Ama Dablam. A great place amidst lovely forest surrounding, from Tengboche adventure, continues towards the high windswept country, leaving tall tree lines. 
Exciting walks through the last permanent village of Pangboche, close beneath towering Ama Dablam. The trail follows towards scenic Imjatse valley at Dingboche a large settlement with many good lodges. 
Spending another overnight in Dingboche allows time for acclimatization, then adventure leads to higher terrain facing views of Lobuche peak.
The first part of the trip leads to a famous and popular destination around the Himalayas Everest base camp. Where trekkers can feel and experience the arctic zone-like landscapes of ice, snow, and glaciers with massif Khumbu Ice-fall.
After base camp a steep climb on a top rocky high hill at Kalapathar for spectacular views of towering giant peaks. One of the best viewpoints for a close look at Mt. Everest, at a near distance from Mt. Pumori.
On completing the first main highlights, the adventure then leads to our major destination at Lobuche East Base Camp. Located on an isolated corner a little further from the main trail of Lobuche and Everest base camp.
At Lobuche base camp, setting overnight camp for a few days, where our true adventure begins. After full preparation and then heading for the big climb, the route to the summit is quite tough and technical. But with support of our expert guide with good knowledge of mountaineering skills, makes the climb possible. 
 Then finally after a hard struggle reaches you on top of Lobuche East Peak. After a tough effort, rewards with a stunning panorama of towering snow peaks, that surrounds the summit of Lobuche East peak.
Enjoying the arduous climb and gaining great experience of the thrill of mountaineering on Himalayan peaks. The return journey leads down to windy Pheriche valley, as the walk follows through Pangboche and Tengboche to Namche Bazaar. The last leg of the adventure takes you to the end of the trek in Lukla, for the last overnight around Khumbu and Everest region.
The next morning a sweeping scenic flight brings you to Kathmandu. After a wonderful adventure and overwhelming experience on Lobuche East Peak Climb with the great service of Himalayan Forever Treks.

Best Seasons: Nearly months of the year, except for monsoon wet months of mid-June to mid-September. The best seasons are spring and autumn / fall, the spring time begins from March to May and autumn from September to November.
Interested people can enjoy the trek during winter times of Christmas and New Year Holidays, however much cold temperatures. But most days are bright and clear with sunshine, short daylight hours during autumn and winter times.

Trip Itinerary

On arrival at Kathmandu, Nepal International Airport our guide and staff will meet you with traditional welcome. After knowing the staff of Himalayan Forever Treks, a short drive to your hotels. Located in the heart of a city within an exciting Thamel area, an interesting place where most good hotels and restaurants situated. Reaching at the hotel, check your lovely rooms, after getting refreshed join in for group briefing. Provided by your guide or Group Leader, offers useful and important information of the trek, hotels and local lodge. 

Includes details of the local culture with do’s and don’ts, evening a group welcome dinner in a nice Nepali Restaurants.

Morning after breakfast, our city and cultural guide meets the group at the hotel for exciting tour. The drive leads in the heart of Kathmandu city, where interesting historical Durbar Square / Palace Courtyard located. The right spot to observe Nepalese cultures. Tour of ancient monuments listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, next tour takes you to old Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2,600 years history.  A Buddhist monument situated on a hillock west of Kathmandu city outskirt, the famous landmark of the country. From here back to hotel for lunch, and the get ready for exciting scenic drive to Manthali town at Ramechap district for overnight halt. The next morning taking a short flight to Lukla.

Morning transfer to Manthali town small airport for panoramic flight to Lukla, board in a small aircraft. The flight heads east with stunning views of Himalayan peaks facing Mt. Everest, as the plane makes a smooth exciting landing at Lukla Tenzing & Hillary Airport.

A moderate town, where walk starts heading down to Dudh Koshi River valley through several Sherpa villages. Festooned with prayer flags, Buddhist monument and prayer wall then reaching our first overnight stop at Phakding village.

A long today’s walk to Namche Bazaar, morning after breakfast the trail follows on moderate path. Walking short down and ups crossing a long bridge to reach a nice village of Monjo. The enter Sagarmatha National Park; (Sagarmatha a name for Everest in Nepal, while the native Sherpa calls as Chomolungma of Tibetan origin language). From the park entrance cross another bridge over the same river Dudh Koshi to Jorsalle, the last settlement before Namche Bazaar. Stopping for lunch, afternoon walk on river bed amidst lovely forest, then starts the climb on crossing a high bridge. A steep winding for few hours reaches Namche Bazaar for two overnight halt in the comfort of nice lodge.

An ideal spot Namche Bazaar for rest day to support acclimatization and short hike to view-points. Morning having breakfast facing views of Kwangde and Thamersarkhu peaks, while at Namche there are several side hikes.

Suggested scenic places for hikes around Namche and beyond:Visit the park museum on top of Namche Bazaar, offers interesting information of the Khumbu Sherpa’s cultures. Along with panorama of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamersarkhu and Kantega with Kwangde peaks. 

Hike to Everest View Hotel at above 3,880 m high a refreshing spot for views of Mt. Everest, while having warm cup of hot drinks. For energetic people can enjoy longer hike to Khumjung and Khunde villages, located on a glacial valley.

Rest of the day enjoy leisure afternoon browsing the streets of Namche Bazaar full of shops, stores, restaurants and fresh bakeries. 

From Namche Bazaar, morning walk short up and then on winding nice trail facing views of towering snow-capped peaks. Then down to Imjatse River for lunch in a small settlement Phunki-Tenga, amidst beautiful rhododendron and pine forest.

Afternoon two hours climb to beautiful Tengboche and the monastery, a picturesque ridge and a small plateau. Enjoy grand panorama of Everest and surrounding giant snow peaks with time to visit the monastery interior of great religious and cultural interest. Overnight at Tengboche or little further down to Deboche in a quiet surrounding in the midst of woods.  

After a pleasant overnight either in Tengboche or Deboche, facing glorious views of Mt. Everest and Ama Dablam. Walk begins heading downhill to cross a bridge from here tree lines declines for short Himalayan bush and shrubs. 

Walk uphill with gentle climb to Pangboche village, located on route to Ama Dablam base camp and to Everest base camp.

Pangboche is the last permanent village, the other places on route Everest base camp are temporary settlements with lodges for trekkers. After Pangboche a slow short up to a place called Somare for lunch break. Afternoon walk on gentle up within an exposed areas, a short down to a river. Crossing a small bridge a short steep climb to Dingboche, located in a beautiful Imjatse valley. At the bottom of Ama Dablam North Face with views of Island Peak and Lhotse, Nuptse.

Another pleasant and important rest day for acclimatization as the altitude sharply rises. Dingboche a lovely place within scenic Imjatse valley encircled by an of snow peaks. Enjoy few hour hike to Nakarjung hill above Dingboche offers grand panorama of the valley floor with towering giant peaks. The views includes as far to Mt. Makalu and Lhotse Shar in the Far East with Island Peak. 

From Dingboche, morning walk up to a ridge, and then on nice gradual climb to Thugla, a small settlement. Where the trails from Pheriche and Dingboche joins at Thugla on route Everest base camp. A good place for lunch stop facing close views of Ama Dablam and Cholatse peaks. Afternoon a steep short climb to Thugla-Pass,having short rest, continue walk on gradual up to Lobuche for overnight halt. 

A Big Day of the adventure, start the morning walk from the nice lodge of Lobuche. As well carrying a pack lunch for the long day to Everest base camp, a slow gentle walk to start the fresh cool morning. The trail follows up and then walk on rocky moraine, above Khumbu glaciers. After few hour of steady hike reaching Gorakshep, a small settlement located on a valley below high Kalapathar hill. Facing close views of Mt. Pumori, enjoy a short refreshing break and then walk continues over rocks and boulders. Then finally reaching the highlight of the adventure at Everest base camp, enjoy the dramatic scenery of arctic landscapes.

The base camp, can be busy and active during the mountaineering expedition times of late spring. Enjoy the remorseless fields of ice, snow and glaciers with massif Khumbu Ice Fall. The views of Mt. Everest is not visible, blocked by Lhotse and Nuptse peaks, achieving our goal and highlights. Return walk to Gorakshep for overnight stop, after a long exciting day of the adventure. 

Start early morning for few hours steep climb to the top of Kalapathar, on the highest spot of the trek. Rewards stunning scenery of towering mountain range with Mt. Pumori in front with close views of Mt. Everest.

After a great scenic views, descend to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue walk downhill. The trail follows past Lobuche and then down before Thugla, where our route diverts towards Lobuche East Peak base camp. 

First overnight in the comfort of tented camp, away from main busy trail, the base camp tucked on hidden corner of high Khumbu Valley.

At Lobuche East Base Camp, having rest day for acclimatization, as well preparation for the climb. Having breakfast our guide will brief on the route of the climb, with some practice climb. The guide will check the route of the climb to the summit, and finding possible and accessible, safe way to the top. 

We have added one more high camp, due to the nature Lobuche East Peak, having high camp, allows much possibilities; for the climb.

Leaving the base camp after breakfast, the trail leads over moraine of ice and snow. The climb continues reaching possible space and ground to set up the high camp. After pitching the High Camp, rest of the day practice climb and checking the route to the summit of Lobuche East Peak. 

Start the climb and the Big Day!, early morning as our guide will leads you to safe climb, and with full support on few technical difficult sections. The climb heads over rocks, ice, where all members will be using necessary tools to negotiate the tough technical areas. After a hard climb with strenuous effort reach on top of Lobuche East Peak summit and enjoy the glorious panorama of surrounding high peaks. Overlooking close views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse with Mt. Makalu towards east direction with majestic Mt. Ama Dablam. 

Staying on top less than an hour as sun reaches the summit, start descending on the same safe route to base camp. Enjoy the day having warm refreshment at the camp, after a hard tough climb of early morning to Lobuche East Peak summit.

After completing the major goals and highlights, clean the base camp as well carry the garbage; to hand over to Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee at Namche Bazaar or in Lukla. Leaving nothing except your foot prints, an easy walk down to Thugla. From Thugla onwards, a pleasant walk on gradual trail to Pheriche, and then downhill to Pangboche for overnight stop. 

From Pangboche walk is much easier as altitude drops every hour, head down to a river to cross a bridge. A long climb through forest then reaching Thyangboche for short stop. Walk continues downhill to cross another bridge with short climb up to Sanasa village. Which is the junction of Namche, Khumjung and Gokyo route, from here a lovely walk of few hours to Namche Bazaar for overnight halt. 

After a pleasant overnight in Namche Bazaar, last day walk starts heading down to Dudh-Koshi River. The trail follows the river crossing over a bridge with short steep up to Sagarmatha National Park. From the park exit point walk to Monjo village, having refreshing stops continue walk to Phakding. From Phakding on the easy wide rail with hour climb to Lukla for final overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest region. 

Having early breakfast, a short walk to Lukla’s Tenzing & Hillary airport as plane reach from Ramechap or Kathmandu. Board on the small aircraft for swift short flight back to land at Manthali small airstrip. A pleasant and exciting drive brings you back at Kathmandu, rest of the day at leisure and for individual activities and shopping souvenirs of Nepal. 

Reserved as contingency day, in case of flight delay or cancelation in Lukla due to unfavorable weather condition. Can happen sometimes, if all goes well as per the schedule of our itinerary days. Enjoy the leisure day, relaxing with fond memories of Everest base camp trek. Interested people can join for another tour to Patan and Bhaktapur, worth a visit not to be missed.

Last day in Nepal and at Kathmandu, get ready for final departure as per your international flight time. Himalayan Forever Trek guide and staff transfer you to the airport. Bidding farewell to the guide and staff as you depart for homeward bound flight, after a wonderful experience and adventure on Lobuche East Peak Climb.

Frequently Asked Questions

160 k.m. or 99.5 miles, aerial distance from Kathmandu to Mt. Everest or its base camp. But on walks from Lukla to Everest base camp is 62 k.m. or 38.5 miles one-way.

The trek overall is not too tough or difficult, the trail is well defined having several nice lodges and settlements. The only hardest is walk fast on high altitude, where one should take it slowly having rest to enjoy the walk each day. The toughest is the climb to high Kalapathar Hill top just for few hours.

As for the climb of Lobuche East Peak, it is quite Technical Mountain to climb but possible. Having more time for practice with extra days for acclimatization, ourguide will make the best support to make the climb successful. 

As Lobuche East Peak being a technical peak requires most of the climbing equipment for the climb. Our guide will instruct the use of right gear where needed, the company will also provide with main or fixed ropes for safety measures.

Everest villages and settlements have hydroelectricity or solar power, where trekkers can charge electronic items. A fee is charged for each gadgets as per hour basis, the price differs from one place to another. But for few days in tented camping, there will be no electricity facilities. One can carry a portable solar panel if necessary during the climb of Lobuche East Peak. 

Everest region of Khumbu area offers best lodge or hotel accommodation with comprehensive food menu to choose from. From Lukla onwards till Gorakshep with several options from budget, moderate to luxury standard.

Trekkers can enjoy rooms with attached bath / toilets, but higher region the toilets and bathe are common. Foods are served in a large warm dining room, the foods served as per the menu from Continental, Chinese, Indian, Tibetan and Nepali. Some lodge restaurants also serves fresh homemade bakeries products.

The most famous and popular is Nepali Dal / Bhat (boiled or steam rice, served with various lentil soups, vegetable or meat mild curry, includes pickles of choice).
