After a scenic morning flight to Pokhara, you’ll drive to Jhinu Danda, a popular stop for trekkers due to its natural hot springs. From here, the trail climbs steadily through terraced hillsides and traditional Gurung villages before reaching the picturesque village of Chhomrong. This village offers stunning views of Machapuchare (Fishtail) and Annapurna South.
Trek Duration: 2–3 hours
The day starts with a descent on stone steps, followed by a crossing over the Chhomrong Khola on a suspension bridge. The trail then ascends through a lush forest to Sinuwa, and continues into the dense bamboo and rhododendron forests until reaching Bamboo village. The cool, shaded trail offers a peaceful trekking experience.
Trek Duration: 5–6 hours
Today’s trail gradually ascends through beautiful forest paths and past Dovan and Himalaya Hotel. As the vegetation thins, you'll trek through alpine landscapes with glimpses of glaciers and waterfalls. You’ll reach Deurali, located just below the Machapuchare Base Camp.
Trek Duration: 5–6 hours
This is the most anticipated day of the trek. The trail continues upwards past Machapuchare Base Camp (3,700 m) to reach Annapurna Base Camp, the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Surrounded 360° by towering peaks like Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare, this destination is nothing short of spectacular.
Trek Duration: 5–6 hours
After an early sunrise view and breakfast at ABC, you will retrace your steps down the valley, passing through Deurali and Dovan before arriving back at Bamboo. The descent is easier but still demands stamina.
Trek Duration: 6–7 hours
Your final trekking day leads you back through the forest and stone staircases to Jhinu Danda. If time allows, you can enjoy the natural hot springs once more before driving back to Pokhara, where your trek concludes.
Trek Duration: 4 hours
Drive Duration: 2–3 hours

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is considered moderate to adventurous, making it accessible to trekkers with a reasonable level of fitness and determination. Over the course of 6 days, you’ll be walking 5 to 7 hours daily through varied terrain—from stone staircases and lush forests to high alpine zones. While the trek doesn’t require mountaineering skills, the steady altitude gain up to 4,130 meters means that trekkers should be aware of potential symptoms of altitude sickness and take precautions like proper acclimatization and hydration. With expert guidance from Himalayan Forever Treks, trekkers are well-supported throughout the journey.
Altitude sickness can be a concern once you ascend above 2,500 meters, and since Annapurna Base Camp is located at 4,130 meters, it’s important to take precautions. Symptoms may include headaches, dizziness, nausea, or fatigue. However, since the trek allows gradual altitude gain and includes rest at key points like Deurali, most trekkers manage well with basic precautions. Our guides at Himalayan Forever Treks are trained to recognize and respond to altitude-related issues promptly, and we always advise trekkers to hydrate well, eat properly, and ascend at a steady pace.
Himalayan Forever Treks offers both private treks and small group departures, typically ranging from 1 to 20 trekkers per group. Every trek is led by a licensed, English-speaking guide who is experienced, knowledgeable about the terrain, and trained in first aid and altitude awareness. Additional porters are included to help carry your gear, allowing you to enjoy the trek with minimal load. Our guides also offer cultural insights and help ensure your safety and comfort on the trail.
Preparation for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek should start a few weeks before your trip. Engage in cardio exercises like hiking, walking, jogging, or cycling to build endurance. Strength training, especially for your legs and core, is also helpful. Make sure to break in your trekking boots and get used to carrying a light backpack. Mental preparation is equally important be ready for changing weather and simple accommodation. Himalayan Forever Treks provides a detailed packing list and pre departure guidance to help you get ready for the trek with confidence.
