My First Solo International Trip

Twenty-two years old, first time outside my country, first Himalayan trek. I was terrified and exhilarated in equal measure. Himalayan Forever paired me with an older British couple who adopted me as their trail niece. We reached Mardi Base Camp together, laughing, exhausted, triumphant. This trek is short enough for beginners, but substantial enough to feel like a genuine achievement. Life-changing.

The Fishtail That Hooked Me

Machhapuchhre—Fishtail Mountain—is forbidden to climbers. It remains unsummited, sacred, perfectly itself. I sat at Mardi Base Camp staring at it for an hour. No urge to conquer. Just gratitude that some places remain untouched. Himalayan Forever didn't interrupt my silence. They brought tea, then retreated. This trek respects the mountains and the moments. I've never felt more peaceful.

Three Seasons in Five Days

We started in subtropical warmth near Kande. By Low Camp, autumn chill. At High Camp, winter frost on windowpanes. Five days, three distinct climate zones. Himalayan Forever briefed us properly, so our layering was adequate. Standing at Mardi Base Camp in full winter gear, looking down at green valleys far below, I felt like I'd traveled through entire countries, not just a single trail. Efficient adventure at its best.

Forest Cathedral

The lower section of this trek, through rhododendron and bamboo forest, is an underrated highlight. Moss-draped branches, shafts of golden light, birdsong echoing. I walked slowly, deliberately, breathing in damp earth and wildflowers. Himalayan Forever never rushed me. They understand that some trekkers come for the peaks, and others come for the forest cathedral that leads there. Both are equally valid.

Solo Female, Zero Worries

As a solo woman, I research companies obsessively. Himalayan Forever passed every check. Small group, professional female guide available, transparent pricing, no last-minute surprises. On trail, I felt completely secure. The lodges were warm, the food was safe, and the guide checked in without hovering. I hiked alone but never felt alone. Perfect introduction to solo Himalayan trekking. Highly recommend.
