1. The Best Time to Visit Rara Lake Tour
The best time to visit Rara Lake with a Jeep tour is during the dry season. The road from Nagma to Rara Lake is quite rough, and during the rainy season, it may become blocked. The optimal visiting periods are from September to November and April to May. From December to February, temperatures drop below freezing, and heavy snowfall, up to one meter, may block the road to the lake. April to June brings warmer weather to the region.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu 1320 m and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu, Nepal International Airport our guide and staff will meet you with traditional welcome. After knowing the staff of Himalayan Forever Treks, a short drive to your hotels. Located in the heart of a city within an exciting Thamel area, an interesting place where most good hotels and restaurants situated. Reaching at the hotel, check your lovely rooms, after getting refreshed join in for group briefing. Provided by your guide or Group Leader, offers useful and important information of the trek, hotels and local lodge.

Includes details of the local culture with do’s and don’ts, evening a group welcome dinner in a nice Nepali Restaurants.

Day 2 : Kathmandu Sightseeing: World Heritage Sites (1,350m/4,429ft)

Morning after breakfast, our city and cultural guide meets the group at the hotel for exciting tour. The drive leads in the heart of Kathmandu city, where interesting historical Durbar Square / Palace Courtyard located. The right spot to observe Nepalese cultures. Tour of ancient monuments listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, next tour takes you to old Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2,600 years history.  A Buddhist monument situated on a hillock west of Kathmandu city outskirt, the famous landmark of the country. From here back to hotel for lunch, and the get ready for exciting scenic flight to Nepalgunj city around Nepal Far Mid-South West for overnight halt. The next morning taking a short flight to Talcha around Rara Lake and Mugu district.

Day 3 : Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (150m/492ft)

After breakfast, you'll catch a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, a bustling city in the southwestern region of Nepal. Upon arrival, you'll check into your hotel and have the rest of the day free to explore the city or relax.

Day 4 : Fly from Nepalgunj to Jumla (2,540m/8,334ft)

In the morning, you'll take a short flight from Nepalgunj to Jumla, a picturesque town in the remote western region of Nepal. Upon arrival, you'll check into your accommodation and have the rest of the day at leisure to acclimatize to the altitude and explore the surroundings.

Day 5 : Trek from Jumla to Chere Chaur (3,055m/10,023ft) - 4-5 hrs

Today marks the beginning of your trekking adventure. You'll start your journey from Jumla and trek to Chere Chaur. The trail offers stunning views of the Himalayan landscape and passes through forests, villages, and meadows. You'll spend the night at a teahouse in Chere Chaur.

Day 6 : Chere Chaur to Chalachaur (2,980m/9,777ft) - 5-6 hrs

Continuing your trek, you'll make your way from Chere Chaur to Chalachaur. The trail winds through beautiful scenery, including lush forests and terraced fields. Along the way, you'll encounter local villages and experience the hospitality of the Nepali people. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Chalachaur.

Day 7 : Chalachaur to Sinja Valley (2,490m/8,170ft) - 5-6 hrs

Today's trek takes you to the historic Sinja Valley, once the capital of the Malla Kingdom. The trail offers cultural insights as you pass ancient temples, ruins, and traditional villages. You'll camp overnight in Sinja Valley, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty.

Day 8 : Sinja to Ghorosingha (3,050m/10,007ft) - 5-6 hrs

Leaving Sinja behind, you'll trek to Ghorosingha, a charming village nestled amidst verdant hills. The trail gradually ascends, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Upon reaching Ghorosingha, you'll settle in at a teahouse for the night.

Day 9 : Ghorosingha to Rara Lake (3,010m/9,876ft) - 5 hrs

Today, you'll trek to the jewel of the region, Rara Lake. The trail leads through pristine forests and alpine meadows, with glimpses of the shimmering lake ahead. Upon arrival, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the turquoise waters surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Overnight camping by the lakeshore.

Day 10 : Explore Rara Lake (3,010m/9,876ft)

You'll spend the day exploring the tranquil surroundings of Rara Lake. You can take leisurely walks along the lakeshore, soak in the serene atmosphere, and capture stunning photographs of the natural beauty. Overnight camping at Rara Lake.

Day 11 : Rara Lake to Pina (2,440m/8,006ft) - 5-6 hrs

Leaving Rara Lake behind, you'll trek to Pina village. The trail descends through lush forests and terraced fields, offering glimpses of rural life in the mountains. Upon reaching Pina, you'll settle in at a teahouse for the night.

Day 12 : Pina to Bumra (2,850m/9,351ft) - 5-6 hrs

Continuing your trek, you'll make your way from Pina to Bumra. The trail winds through picturesque landscapes, including forests, streams, and small settlements. You'll spend the night at a teahouse in Bumra.

Day 13 : Trek Ends: Bumra to Jumla (2,540m/8,334ft) - 6 hrs

Today marks the final day of your trekking adventure. You'll trek back to Jumla, where you'll bid farewell to the rugged wilderness and stunning scenery. Upon arrival in Jumla, you'll check into your accommodation and have the rest of the day free to relax and reflect on your journey.

Day 14 : Fly to Nepalgunj, Fly to Kathmandu (1,350m/4,429ft)

Morning as time for flight time from Talcha to Nepalgunj city airport, a short walk to the airport terminal. As the small aircraft arrives from Nepalgunj, and then get on board for sweeping short scenic flight to land at Nepalgunj city airport. 

A short stop at Nepalgunj airport for the connecting flight to Kathmandu, from here on a big airplane. A panoramic flight of less than an hour reaches Kathmandu, from the airport in Kathmandu domestic air terminal. A short drive back to your hotel, having rest of the day free at leisure for individual activities.

Day 15 : International departure for homeward bound.

Last day in Nepal and at Kathmandu, get ready for final departure as per your international flight time. Himalayan Forever Trek guide and staff transfer you to the airport. Bidding farewell to the guide and staff as you depart for homeward bound flight, after a wonderful experience and enjoyable time on Rara Lake Journey.
